Rabbath, Nouvelle Technique for Double Bass, Vol. 2
François Rabbath's three-volume series, "New Technique of the Double Bass", is a much-needed study book for double bass players, as few such books were available before its publication. Rabbath, born in Syria in 1931, moved to Paris in 1955 to study the double bass and soon began composing and transcribing works for the instrument. The second volume of the series, titled "New Technique for the Double Bass Volume 2" (Leduc), is a significant contribution to double bass pedagogy. It covers various topics, including scales, arpeggios, bowing techniques, exercises, and studies. Rabbath compiled this technical study book with vast knowledge and experience as a virtuoso instrument player and a frequent soloist. His "New Technique for the Double Bass" is an essential accompaniment to all double bass studies, and it is available in French, English, German, and Italian.
