Bazelaire was an experienced teacher and also worked as an instrumental professor at the Conservatoire. He wrote several publications, including one that explored the relationship between technical study and musical expression. His Études transcendentales were virtuosic adaptations of Kummer's mid-nineteenth-century studies and reflected the advancements in cello technique during his time. Throughout his career, Bazelaire composed over a hundred pieces, including some for solo piano.
