AMEB Violin Preliminary Recorded Accompaniments (Series 9)
This collection of piano accompaniments has been recorded as a practice tool and for use in AMEB examinations. The accompaniments correspond with the AMEB Series 9 Violin Preliminary Grade repertoire and technical exercises. They are designed to be valuable resources for students and teachers across the country, featuring performances of the accompaniment parts for pieces in the corresponding AMEB grade books.
AMEB encourages candidates and teachers to rehearse and perform with accompanists whenever possible. While the Recorded Accompaniments can be used as a practice tool, having live accompaniment during exams is beneficial. However, we understand that only some have immediate access to an accompanist. The availability of accompanists, particularly in regional areas, has become increasingly challenging, and the overall cost of music education and exams poses financial difficulties for many families. These factors contributed to AMEB allowing this alternative starting in 2015.
In addition, AMEB is excited to introduce the MyTempo app, which features our first practice tool linked to the Recorded Accompaniments. MyTempo enables students to adjust the speed of any recording, making it easier to practice at their preferred pace. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices and can be downloaded from the respective app stores.
MyTempo offers users the option to purchase individual tracks within the app. Additionally, if you buy a hardcopy CD, you can transfer the tracks onto your device and play them through the app. While the primary feature of MyTempo is to adjust playback speed, it also includes a loop function for practising specific passages repetitively and a metronome function to help users monitor their playing speed.
