Hester, Norman
Norman Hester is a US composer and double bassist. Born at Chorlton in Lancashire on 2 March 1907, Jack Snow Hester, also known as Norman Hester, became a dual bass player at 17. His father, Arthur Darrell Hester is a 'Chemical Maker'; his mother was Minnie Frances Hester, formerly a Stamp, and the family was resident in South Manchester. In the 1930s, he worked with West End productions as Norman Hester at Daly's Theatre, the Piccadilly Theater, the Palace Theater, and several others in London. Norman was involved in freelance in the 1960s and worked in London, including The BBC, as an extra bass player.
