History
Gustave Bernardel, the famous French violin maker, invented his own rosin recipe at the begining of the 20th century. This secret was then passed on to the Francais family. Jean and Jacques Francais, well know luthiers in Paris and New York) offered Corelli Savarez the opportunity to continue the tradition. They continue to use the same raw materials and manufacturing process to respect the authenticity and exceptional quality of the rosin. It is still handmade unit by unit. It is made from the highest quality resin from selected pine trees using the "galipot" (the first sap of the tree). The components of the recipe are very strictly controlled.

Millant Deroux rosin is sometimes called the "Cat Brand", and is still manufactured to the same exacting standards that were established over 100 years ago.
The originator of this famous rosin was the French violin maker, Sebastian-August Deroux. He was born in Mirecourt in 1848 and moved to Paris in 1884. At that time he started to make a rosin he called Colophane Deroux.
