Amati Mangenot (1901 – 1966) was a French luthier who learned his craft from his father, Paul Alexandre Mangenot.

This viola is sold on consignment. It was purchased and used by a member of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as a second viola or backup viola. It was purchased in Northern Europe for twice the advertised price. Still, the $3300 is further negotiable. The country of origin is unknown. The label points to a maker who worked 100 years ago, but the viola is not so old.
The sound quality is fine.
