What To Look For When Buying A Violin
You have hundreds of options when purchasing a violin, especially for beginners. It can be overwhelming to determine which violins are of good quality. While many brands exist, those priced around $300 are considered student quality. Specific brands, like the Arco violin from Animato Strings, are highlighted for their consistent quality and sound, making them a reliable choice for beginners.
IMPORTANCE OF SOUND QUALITY
Sound quality is paramount when selecting a violin. A good beginner violin should produce a pleasant tone, not a tinny sound. A violin that sounds good can significantly enhance the learning experience. The Arco violin is recommended for its rich tone and overall quality, which can help students avoid frustration as they learn. The violin's professional setup and materials contribute to its sound, making investing in a quality instrument such as the Arco violin is essential.
FEEL AND COMFORT
The feel and weight of the violin are also substantial. A violin should feel comfortable and not too heavy, allowing for ease of play. The Arco violin is lightweight, like more expensive violins. It is essential to assess how the violin feels under the chin and on the shoulder and to choose a different chin rest if necessary and a suitable shoulder rest. A comfortable violin can significantly affect a player's ability to practice and improve.
CAUTIONS WHEN PURCHASING ONLINE
When buying a violin online from platforms like eBay, caution is advised. Many violins may arrive unassembled, requiring the buyer to organise and pay for a professional setup, which is usually uneconomical. (You mostly save money by going to a specialist to begin with.) Additionally, beginners should be aware of the quality of the bow as it is crucial for producing a pleasing sound.
FINAL THOUGHTS ON INVESTING IN A VIOLIN
Ultimately, buyers should invest wisely in their first violin. While opting for the cheapest option may be tempting, spending more at a specialist shop can lead to a significantly better learning experience. A quality violin sounds better and helps beginners develop their skills without unnecessary discomfort. The Arco violin outfit is a solid choice for those with a budget of around $300, providing a good balance of quality and affordability. Making informed decisions or getting proper guidance when purchasing a violin is essential to ensure a positive start in learning this beautiful instrument.
