Rabbath, Nouvelle Technique for Double Bass, Book 3

François Rabbath's (b.1931) three-volume series, New Technique of the Double Bass, is highly valued by all double bass performers due to the lack of study books available for the instrument. Rabbath, born in Syria, relocated to Paris in 1955 to pursue his double bass studies. He began composing for the instrument and transcribing the works of other composers soon after.

The third volume of the Nouvelle Technique significantly contributes to the field of double bass pedagogy, covering physical and psychological approaches to the instrument, bowstrokes, and harmonics and offering various exercises and studies. Rabbath is a prominent double bassist, and his Nouvelle Technique de la Contrebasse is a well-informed and essential accompaniment to all double bass studies.
