The String Quintet No. 1 in B flat major, K. 174, was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in December 1773. Unlike Mozart's other viola quintets which are scored for two violins, two violas and cello- this early work is scored for two violins, two violas and basso.
Mozart composed 12 Duets for Violin and Viola during the Classical period. The solo instruments are stapled, and the score is published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-3979). The 16-page score is a delightful blend of the two instruments, with intricate harmonies and melodious tunes. It's a must-have for any classical music lover.
K218 is an excellent Mozart Violin Concerto resulting from the collaboration of three experts. Cliff Eisen edited it, Andrew Manze contributed authentic cadenzas, and Werner Breig created an easy-to-play piano reduction.
