Swashbucklers Saga by Chris Thomas (Grade 2.5) FJH Developing Strings Arrangement for String Orchestra This music evokes the image of a pirate's life-sailing the world in search of riches, adventure and maybe a little danger. Dance the night away with the swashbuckling scalawags of the seven seas! In a classic pirate jig style, this music explores 6/8 meter with brisk, marcato bowings. A contrasting, romantic lyrical section features rich, soaring melodies amid lush harmonies before the energetic jig returns once more. This cinematic saga will be an energetic addition to your next concert! (3:45)
This outstanding pair of contrasting movements moves from a plaintive and pleading Larghetto to an Allegro with all the cheer and sparkle one can imagine. An exceptional opportunity to work on the music of Handel while providing a wealth of opportunities for musical development! (5:15)
Commissioned by the National String Project Consortium, this gorgeous lyrical work can be performed alone as an intermediate level piece, or with multi-level supplemental parts (available separately) for beginning and developing string students. Orchestrated to celebrate inclusion and diversity, the multi-level option is designed to sound far "greater than" the intermediate version alone. Not your traditional festival orchestra piece by any means. (Grade 3, Dur 5:40)
