We created the Titanium Ebony Chin Rest Extended Teka Style with the concept that a lighter chin rest could enhance the sound of a violin or viola. Initially, we tried a lightweight plastic chinrest from Wittner to achieve a louder and more gratifying sound due to its reduced weight. However, plastic chinrests can become uncomfortable when sweating while playing.
Therefore, we arrived at a deliberate choice to craft a chinrest utilizing premium ebony. We employed Titanium for the metallic elements to maintain both durability and lightness. The results of our trial revealed that the sound quality produced is truly exceptional. Remarkably, despite the use of ebony, this chinrest weighs no more than its plastic counterparts yet offers unparalleled comfort.
We recommend this Teka-style Chin Rest for most violin and viola players. It's made from genuine ebony timber and hand-carved for optimal quality.
