Frank Bridge (26 February 1879 – 10 January 1941) was an English composer, violist and conductor. Bridge was an accomplished violist player and conductor of professional standard. His compositions have been unfortunately underrated.  He was a student of Charles Villiers Stanford and in turn he taught Benjamin Britten. Britten composed an orchestral work based on Bridge's themes. This composition was written mainly for the amateur market of his day.
