This Antique French violin was made by the famous luthier Jean Baptiste Colin at Mirecourt, Paris, in 1903, a superb example of a quality French instrument.

Jean-Baptiste Colin (1841-1923) was a French-born luthier known for producing instruments in the style of Collin-Mezin or Vuillaume. He started working as his Father’s apprentice, then moved to Belgium to work with Nicolas-Francois Villaume. In 1868 Colin moved to Paris, where he began making his violins which were known as superior during those times. Colin gained Gold Medal awards in 1879, 1889, and 1890.

After many years of producing excellent craftsmanship, Jean-Baptiste Colin, based mainly in Mirecourt and Paris, retired. He died in Paris in 1923.

Louis Noebe Cello 1914

Louis Noebe was a German cellist who studied at the Leipzig Conservatory and played in several orchestras. He became a solo cellist and later established a workshop for creating violins, violas, and cellos. He improved violin making and developed the System Noebe, which increased the vibrations of the cello. He was also a German violin maker whose clients included famous musicians. He innovated in piano construction and developed a four-part coupling pedal in 1893. Today, his former residence is a listed building, and the Bad Homburg Municipal Historical Museum bought a violin by Louis Noebe for its 100th anniversary in 2016.

German Cello by Helmut Illner - Goffriller Model

German Cello by Helmut Illner - Goffriller Model. According to the label, it was made in 2004, just before Helmut Illner's retirement. This cello is handmade and hand-varnished with a balm mixture of red-brown. It is one of the high-level instruments made by Illner.
