Jay Haide makes high-quality cellos from seasoned maple and spruce. There are five models to choose from, with options for beginners and advanced musicians. They are made from aged, top-quality wood for the best tone.

In 1992, Jay Ifshin, a skilled violin maker and owner of Ifshin Violins, an important violin shop in Berkeley, California, became frustrated with the inconsistent quality of the new instruments they purchased from suppliers. He believed that establishing a workshop to create consistently high-quality instruments would enable him to offer them at a more attractive price than anything he could buy through a supplier or directly from the maker. Haide Lin, Jay's shop foreman in Berkeley for several years, had already been trained as a master violin maker in Guangzhou, China, before coming to America to work at Ifshin Violins. Together, they set up the workshop and named it Jay Haide as a combination of their names. Customers still come in and ask to meet "Mr Jay Haide".
