Ezra Jenkinson was an English composer and violinist. The Elves' Dance, his best-known performance, makes heavy use of spiccato and is a display piece for advanced violin beginners. At his young age, in Leipzig, Germany, a local patron awarded Jenkinson a grant to research music, according to the English author and artist William Holt. He went back to his hometown to live alone after seven years and ignored the public when he sold the right to his compositions. He died in Todmorden.
