Emil Kreuz was a skilled German musician born in Elberfeld in 1867. He was a talented player of both the violin and viola and an accomplished composer, conductor, and teacher. Over a period of ten years, Kreuz created an extensive collection of music that was suitable for violists of all levels. His pedagogical works were so impressive that the RCM and the Royal Academy of Music adopted them. For decades, Kreuz’s music was recommended to violists, and his “Select Studies” in five volumes became a popular source of study material.
