D'Addario Super-Sensitive Spector Mute for Violin
The Spector Violin Mute reduces the instrument’s volume during practice and performance, easily and quickly sliding up to engage. While not in use, the mute remains on the instrument without affecting its sound.
This orchestral mute was designed by Fred Spector, who has 45 years of experience as a Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist. The Spector mute can remain on your violin continuously. When not used, the A and D strings hold the mute in place with no buzzing or rattling. When the score calls for a mute (con Sordino), the player can quickly and easily slide the mute forward until its lip rests over the top of the bridge. When it is time to go Senza Sordino, you can slide the mute back toward the tailpiece. This mute is made of a synthetic material that slides easily over the bridge.
