Basics is a collection of 300 practice methods and exercises for the Violin. It can be used by players of all standards, from concert Violinists to students. Much of the material is also suitable for teaching elementary players. Each exercise is designed to achieve the maximum possible result in the least possible time. Some are very short and need to be done only once or twice to explore a particular aspect of technique. Others are practice routines or warm-up exercises that can be returned to regularly.
The Carl Flesch Violin Scale System, published by Carl Fischer and edited by Max Rostal, is a valuable supplement to Book 1 of The Art of Violin Playing. This collection of violin etudes includes various scale exercises in major and minor keys, providing a wide range of practice material for violinists.
Four exercises are presented to violinists. Exercise 1 is designed to develop strength and absolute independence of finger action and ease in quick adjustment of the fingers in chord playing.
