"Boosey & Hawkes" was formed in 1930 as two well-established British music businesses merged and controlled the copyrights in many of 20th-century’s major music. This included the works of popular classical composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Benjamin Britten, Aaron Copland, Sergei Prokofiev, and Igor Stravinsky. The company also published the works of prominent contemporary composers such as John Adams, Karl Jenkins, James MacMillan, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and Steve Reich.

This violin made around 1890 replicates one made by Antonio Stradivari, a famous Italian violin maker. His violins are among the world's most expensive, and he learned from Nicolo Amati before creating his own. Antonio was born in 1644 and passed away in Cremona in 1737.
