Animato Strings has been around for nearly 30 years, owned and directed by Dietrich Lasa. In 1993, it started under the name of 'Strings Attached' and changed its business name to 'Animato' in 1996. It was designed to cater to students close and far, making sure everyone would get the best possible sound for the dollar spent.
Today, Animato Strings has the largest selection of new and old instruments in Australia, ranging from under $200 to 100k. Apart from Asian-handcrafted instruments, Animato Strings carries new European instruments as well as antique violins, violas, cellos, and double basses from France, Germany, England, and Italy. They also have Australian, U.S., and instruments from other countries. The onsite workshop is blessed with experts who restore, service, and set up instruments.
The “Jay Haide” line of instruments comes from the California workshop of Ifshin Violins. Handmade of fine aged spruce and maple with an original varnish formula, Jay Haide instruments aim to make beautiful tone and excellent performance available to advancing students and young professionals alike.
