AMEB Violin Grade 3 Recorded Accompaniments (Series 9)
This collection of piano accompaniments has been recorded as a practice tool and is designed for use in AMEB examinations. The accompaniments correspond to the AMEB Series 9 Violin third-grade repertoire and technical exercises. We hope these recordings are a valuable resource for students and teachers nationwide.
AMEB encourages candidates and teachers to rehearse and perform with live accompanists whenever possible. While you may use the recorded accompaniments as a practice tool, you can also use your accompanist in the exam room. Although AMEB strongly suggests playing with an accompanist whenever feasible, we understand that only some have immediate access to one. The availability of accompanists has become more challenging, especially in regional areas, in recent years, and the overall cost of music education and exams has become a financial concern for many families. These factors contributed to AMEB allowing this alternative starting in 2015.
In addition, AMEB is proud to announce the launch of its first practice app, MyTempo, alongside the release of the Recorded Accompaniments. MyTempo allows students to speed up, slow down, and loop any recording through their smartphones or tablets. This app aligns with the release of the Recorded Accompaniments, enabling users to practice at their preferred speed. MyTempo is available for both Apple and Android devices and can be downloaded from the appropriate app stores.
You can purchase individual tracks directly from within the MyTempo app. Alternatively, if you buy a hardcopy CD, you can transfer the tracks onto your device to play them through the app. The app’s main feature is its ability to adjust the playback speed; however, it also includes useful functions such as a loop feature, which lets you practice the same passage repeatedly, and a metronome function, allowing you to monitor the speed at which you are playing the recording.
