The Leek Collections 1–5 for Solo Cello brings together five collections of unaccompanied cello music by Australian composer Stephen Leek (born 1959). Born in Sydney, Leek is a composer, conductor, educator, and publisher whose distinctive musical language reflects Australia's drama, rhythms, colours, atmosphere, and character. His music has been widely performed internationally, particularly through his significant contribution to Australian choral composition and performance. Leek has also taught composition and improvisation at the Queensland Conservatorium. These solo cello collections offer players contemporary Australian repertoire that explores musical expression, rhythm, tone, colour, and the cello's individual voice.
