Butterflies On The Breeze for String Orchestra by Anne Svendsen
This piece depicts the magic of butterfly migration with only open strings and first finger (using all strings). The butterflies disappear into the sky with a soft, delicate pizzicato ending. Bowing skills include two-note slurs, staccato on the string, and hooked bowings. While rhythmically simple, this piece incorporates a great mix of note values, making counting accuracy important.
Fiddlers greet the king as he enters his court. This Elizabethan-style piece is perfect for creating a royal ambience. All instruments have exciting parts, and low strings are divided into melody and harmony, providing flexibility for directors. It's an excellent choice for any occasion!
