Gypsy Duel by Michael J Stocks (level 2-3)
This is a work for the more advanced ensemble. The rhythmical opening features both left and right pizzicato, along with harmonics. The Cello and Viola Sections introduce the sonorous second theme. The 3rd theme builds in speed and excitement, and is an opportunity for the 1st and 2nd Violin sections to shine. This piece is challenging, however when played well it is sure to be a show-stopper!
