Industrial Loops by Brian Balmages (FJH)
Grade 4
Publisher: FJH Music Company
This innovative work explores the fusion of music with mechanical ideas. Based on the rhythmic drive of a factory underscored with a series of musical “loops” provided by the ensemble, the piece explores the combination of organic and inorganic sounds. Inventive percussive and vocal effects are layered upon one another as the groove begins to metamorphose into more complex sounds while a bluesy element is added to create a “blue-collar” vibe. A series of micro-climaxes ultimately explode in a furry of intensity and flourishes, bringing the work to a dramatic close.

Queenslanders will likely appreciate this fresh and cheerful "winter" piece from Florida, sure to bring some cheer to your audience. Optional percussion parts pair with tuneful melodies to give this work a unique charm that is both engaging and challenging. A perfect addition to your winter concert! (2:00)
Commissioned by the National String Project Consortium, this gorgeous lyrical work can be performed alone as an intermediate level piece, or with multi-level supplemental parts (available separately) for beginning and developing string students. Orchestrated to celebrate inclusion and diversity, the multi-level option is designed to sound far "greater than" the intermediate version alone. Not your traditional festival orchestra piece by any means. (Grade 3, Dur 5:40)
