This is an Easy Level piece for String Ensemble written by music educator and composer Tom May.
Based on the famous Canon in D by Pachelbel, this work helps students reinforce basic rhythms using minims, crotchets and quaver note rhythms and rests and repeated quaver note figures with a feature moment and entrance for each section. This is an outstanding performance ensemble piece for students in their first stage of learning.
Themes from Carmen for String Orchestra Level 3.5
This accessible yet authentic arrangement is based on four well-known themes from Bizet's popular opera:
- Prelude
- Aragonaise (Dance of Aragon)
- Habanera
- Dance Boheme (Gypsy Dance)
From the foreboding introduction to the dancing and swirling ending, this spectacular arrangement has it all!
Two lively Irish/Celtic jigs, one in major and one in modal/minor, are skilfully scored for developing groups in this delightful medley for strings. The tuneful folk melodies are ideal for introducing triple-based meters to younger string students. Includes: Father O'Flynn's and The Gobby-O. (2:14)
Wild West Hoedown Level 2.5
This bright change-of-pace work evokes the toe-tapping sounds of the old west as settlers circle the wagons round for a Saturday night hoedown. Featuring athletic, yet very playable fiddle-style tunes that wander throughout the ensemble, the music also uses simple double-stops and contrasting rhythms that keep things moving along.
