Guest Soloist by Richard Meyer (String Explorer Series Alfred Music)
This amusing work is used by the composer, Richard Meyer, every autumn at his recruiting concerts. This fun and interactive piece puts the spotlight on a volunteer from the audience. This volunteer plays a two string violin with just two strings both tuned to a D. You can use any instrument that easily plays a D.
The volunteer needs no rehearsal at all as they just need to play D three times whenever the conductor taps them on the shoulder. As such no rehearsal ahead of time is needed by the soloist. Every one will be amazed at the new violin "virtuoso" who could be the school principal, a teacher or any member of the community.
Instructions on how to set up the two stringed violin are included.
