Johann Strauß (Sohn) (1825 – 1899) An der schönen blauen Donau Beautiful blue Danube for String Quartet arranged for string quartet by Ernst-Thilo Kalke Johann Strauss' enormously popular Blue Danube Waltz. Johann Strauss followed a music career against his father's wished. In 1844, he founded an orchestra that had immediate success and came to rival his father's orchestra. After Johann senior died, his son combined the two orchestras. He composed more than 400 waltzes and this is arguably the most famous of these.
Mozart composed 12 Duets for Violin and Viola during the Classical period. The solo instruments are stapled, and the score is published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-3979). The 16-page score is a delightful blend of the two instruments, with intricate harmonies and melodious tunes. It's a must-have for any classical music lover.
