Leatherwood Viola Rosin - Supple or Crisp
Australian-made Leatherwood rosin is produced from a hand-distilled Australian pine resin blended with a range of international resins. They can optimise your sound’s brightness, clarity, warmth and richness and vary the strength of the initial attack on the string.
It comes in two varieties - Supple and Crisp. You can try one of them and enjoy their benefits.
Supple Blend
The supple blend generates a more powerful and focused sound from a softer, lighter bow with less ‘bite’. Supple also enhances the sounds of a deep/warm-sounding instrument by making it more resonant. Supple can also ‘soften’ an instrument that is too loud, bright or one-dimensional in sound.
- A warm and softer sound
- Consistent traction that feels velvety and rich
- Maintains a reliably sharp attack on the string
Crisp Blend
The crisp blend works well with an instrument with lots of resonance but is a little ‘woolly’ in sound, offering it greater clarity and articulation. Crisp also assists bows or techniques that struggle to achieve a clear and articulate spiccato or sautille. Crisp can also assist small students or cheap instruments by enhancing their sound to be brighter and sometimes louder and beginning students find it easier to articulate with crisp.
- A decisive attack
- Firm traction and crisp sautille
- Creates an undeniably forthright sound through a glassier texture
The casing is made from Australian timbers, and the rosin is wrapped in deerskin leather.
The type of wood used in the casing is dependent on availability.
