Six Sonates Opus 27 for Solo Violin Ysaye (Schott Freres) Eugène Ysaÿe's Six Sonatas are amongst the key works in the repertoire for unaccompanied violin along with Paganini's caprices and Bach's Sonatas and Partitas. Ysaÿe included passages of marked technical difficulty. Each sonata was dedicated to a contemporaneous virtuosos of the violin and was tailored to suit his particular abilities.
