    Manuel de Falla is regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century.  His 1950 ballet El Amor Brujo (Spellbound Love), incorporates beautiful Andalusian folk themes.  The Ritual Fire Dance from this ballet was inspired by a traditional ceremony in which people would worship the fire god by dancing around and leaping through a fire.  It is famous for it exhilerating trills and ornaments.

The etudes have been reworked by violinists such as Carl Flesch, Max Rostal, and Ivan Galamian in numerous new editions throughout the twentieth century.
