Valse Triste Dodo's Last Waltz (Grade 3) For String Orchestra by Keith Sharp

On the Island of Mauritius in the year 1700, the Last Dodo performed The Last Waltz. Valse Triste (Dodo’s Last Waltz) is a musical tribute in B minor to the once-existing Dodo bird. It is a sweet, reflective and musically balanced waltz that all players will find tuneful and exciting. The cello sings a soulful, sustained line in the main, while the lyrical first violin part can be played in the first position. However, it lends itself well to 3rd position in places for more advanced players. Inner players enjoy an assortment of melody, harmony and rhythm, making it an excellent training for a waltz’s strokes and rhythmic elements.
