Francois Breton was a French violin maker in Mirecourt, France. His work flourshed between the dates 1778 – 1830. He was Duchesse d’Angouleme’s personal luthier. His refined style and prolific inspired others that they would imitate his work. Breton’s style was seen in thousands of factory made instruments that were produced after his death in 1830.
This violin is Labeled Johann Baptist Schweitzer 1844 Repaired by M Nebel New York c 1895. Johann Baptist Schweitzer was considered one of the finest violin makers in Vienna. He adopted a more classical approach to classical models, emulating Amati and Stradivari patterns with some authenticity. M. Nebel & Bros was established by the Nebel Brothers Martin, and Andrew Nebel who specialized in making and restoring violins.
This violin is a Guarneri Model Made in Germany in about 1925. Guarneri and Stradivari were both an apprentice of Nicolo Amati whose instruments were coveted by many collectors and prominent violin players.
French 3/4. Beautiful sound. There is an old, repaired hairline soundpost crack at the top.
Paul Beuscher began as a luthier who opened the Paul Beuscher Music Shop in 1850 in Paris at 27-29 Boulevard Beaumarchais. The string instruments bearing the label Paul Beuscher came most likely from Mirecourt, the centre of French violin making. They were bought there and sold in Paul Beuscher Music Shop in Paris bearing Paul Beuscher’s name.
This is the German Violin Hagen Weise 2019. Hagen Weise dedicated himself to making fine violins and other instruments in his shop, producing 150 to 200 violins per day.
This is a copy of Nikolaus Amatus's violin made in 1636 with a label. Nicola Amati was a master luthier born in 1596, in Cremona Italy. He came from a family of luthiers but was considered the most famous luthier in their clan.
