Gasparo da Salò was a talented musician and luthier who crafted over 80 instruments, including unique violas with only two corners and ceteras. Many of his instruments have survived to the present day.

In the 1910s, Arthur Edward Smith (1880-1978) established a store in Sydney upon his return to Australia. Smith's workshop on Hunter Street quickly gained a reputation for repairing and selling high-quality stringed instruments. This violin was sold (not made by) AE Smith, Australia's most famous violin maker. 

This is an antique German violin estimated to be from around 1880. It does not bear a label and features an imitated neck graft with a well-executed sound post-repair on the top plate. This Violin is Labelled (Copy) August Reichers which is made in Berlin. August Reichers (1836 – 1893) is a German violin maker who learned his trade in Markneukirchen, Germany under Carl Friedrich Fickers.

This violin is a Copy of Antonio Stradivarius Cremonensis German 1719. Antonio Stradivari is a world-renowned Italian violin maker who was said to have brought the craft of violin-making into its highest pitch of perfection. His violin creations became some of the world’s most expensive violins.
