Vasile Gliga was born in Ibănești in Mureș County, Romania in April 3 1959. He is the owner and founder of a Romanian enterprise called the Gilga group which was started in 1990. They manufacture stringed instruments such as violins, cellos, and violas in Reghin, Romania. In around 2001, they opened a branch in Pasadena, California, USA. In 2008 Vasile Gliga was elected to the Parliament of Romania.

He now focuses on crafting advanced violins while occasionally creating cellos and violas.
