Originally for string quintet, this piece was arranged by Boccherini for guitar and string quartet. Castanets add a Spanish touch. Boccherini explored diverse textures and string effects within the Classical Period. The music's elegance and vibrancy captivate players and audiences alike.

As you journey through a tropical rainforest, you can experience wonderment and awe reflected in these three miniatures. Each piece offers a different mood and tone colour for players to explore. The techniques used in these miniatures, including pizzicato, sustained notes, double quavers, and left-hand pizzicato, are easy to tackle, even for young musicians with limited experience.

Gobi Desert warriors, led by Genghis Khan, ride to China. The music's eighth notes, dissonant chords, and pounding melody vividly portray their might in battle. A calm pentatonic section shows them resting at night before moving mercilessly to the next fight.
We all love our pets, and each day brings new adventures! “Presto Puppies” features rising scale patterns and surprising dissonances, while “Cantabile Kitties” captures the subdued essence of our feline friends with major seventh intervals that evoke a kitten yawning. “Con Brio Birdies” portrays birds’ chatter through repeated quavers and gentle dissonances. The suite also showcases various techniques, including harmonics and different pizzicato styles.
This is an excellent intro to Early Music. Arbeau's second piece was later used in "Capriol Suite" by Peter Warlock. To add authenticity, improvise and add bass drum or tambour parts.

Latin-American music is vibrant! This piece is an extended tango that will make musicians sway. The title, "Reminiscences of Buenos Aires," evokes images of non-stop dancing in the Argentinean capital. String effects such as pizzicato, tremolo, glissando, and lifted-down bows add colour to this pulsating score. Invite audience members to dance while you play for a unique experience.
