"Far From Home" is a beautiful piece of music composed by Keith Sharp and designed for a string orchestra. The piece has a wistful and lilting melody lasting approximately 1.45 minutes. It is suitable for players at a Grade 2 level and allows your less advanced players to explore the rich G-string sounds. 

The harmony/descant and bass parts are optional, as the melody and piano parts form the backbone of the structure. Once all the string parts are covered, the piano part becomes optional, too. 

There is also an optional vocal line but be prepared for a sad tale. This flexible and accessible piece is hauntingly beautiful and will be a great addition to your ensemble library.

Keith Sharp obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in 1984 and began working as a string educator in the Gap region of Brisbane, Australia. He has been teaching there ever since. In 1995, Keith pursued further education and completed a postgraduate diploma in education. Keith has been honoured throughout his teaching career for his exceptional string programs and ensembles while expressing his love for composition. His meticulously crafted and imaginative works are highly sought after throughout Australia and discovered by teachers in the United States, Great Britain, and Germany.
