Amati Mageno Signed 1944 Bordo French (F45)

Amati Mangenot made this violin, but with his sense of humour, he "Italianised" his name and city, resulting in Mangeno and Bordo.

Amati Mangenot (1901 – 1966) was a skilled French luthier who acquired his craft from his father, Paul Alexandre Mangenot. He then worked with the brothers Albert Laurent in Brussels and Emile Laurent in Bordeaux. After a brief period in his workshop in Clermont Ferrand, Mangenot took over Emile Laurent's workshop in Bordeaux in 1925. This label shows the maker's humour. He Italianized his name and his city (Bordeaux).
