Sharp, Worse Than a Curse for String Orchestra
"Terrifying the living daylights out of people makes for a hard night's work. Peace and quiet in a favorite sarcophagus at the museum is just the tonic needed to soothe the soul...but sadly, not to be! Busloads of rowdy, riotous children armed with sticky fingers and felt-tipped pens stampede the place. It's enough to chill even my cold bones - why it's worn than a curse!"
This piece features repeated upper-half staccato with crescendo and decrescendo, combined with an exciting countermelody. The parts are evenly balanced, and all players have the opportunity to play the tune at some point. Upper violinists may choose to play in the third position as recommended. You can enjoy exploring the possibilities with the old saying, "It's worse than a curse!"
